Do you have a cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend a therapy session, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. The time we are scheduled to see each other is a time that is reserved specifically for you. If you are unable to keep that time, I appreciate you letting me know, so I can make that time available to someone in need.

If you do not notify me of a need to cancel and I have reserved that time for you, I will charge you the full fee for the session.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes! Investing in therapy is an important commitment of time, energy and money. I know how important it is to find someone with whom you click, who you believe will truly be able to help you. We want to make sure we are a good fit and will take 20 minutes over the phone to get to know each other.

How long will counseling take?

It really depends on you and your needs. I have clients I’ve seen for a year and a half. I’ve also had clients I’ve seen for just a few sessions who needed help with a specific situation. This is something we will discuss together when we meet.

You can feel free to move at your own pace. It’s up to you!

Why therapy?

We come to therapy because we are stuck. Just like you would visit a doctor for a medical condition, you would visit a therapist for a mental condition that is giving you trouble. All of us need a little help every now and then.

Therapy gives us a choice to do something different with our life. Why not try it?

Do you focus on spirituality?

Life has many questions. My job is to help you figure out what’s right for you. I believe in the mind/ body/ spirit connection. All religions and spiritual philosophies are welcome as we explore, together, what works for you. At times, you may need to explore your upbringing, how those beliefs impact you today and create a spiritual world that fits you now. I can be your guide.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

What are your credentials?

I have a BA in Sociology from U.C. Santa Barbara and a Masters in Social Work from San Diego State University. I obtained my L.C.S.W., my license to practice in the state of California, many years ago.

I am a lifelong meditator and learner in the areas of depression, anxiety, grief and loss, spirituality and self-improvement. If I’m not seeing clients, I’m reading about a technique to help clients, and I always have a spiritual book or podcast going.

Have you ever been to therapy?

Absolutely! I definitely try to practice what I preach and have been in therapy, off and on, throughout my career.

I can truly appreciate where you are now in your journey. Making the decision to reach out is a big one. I know that. It takes courage to make the call. You can do it! You’re worth it!
